Outriders – THUNDERBIRD Legendary Weapon Review

In this review, we have the Thunderbird! A classic name for some, an overused moniker for others. The Thunderbird is a legendary assault rifle that, yet again, has that bone-like structure just like many legendaries in Outriders. What makes this gun really unique is that it’s powered by lightning, which is why you’re seeing flashes of white and blue from under the barrel of the gun. Honestly, I don’t want to waste any more of your time as the stats and mods for Thunderbird are honestly insane.

Stats and mods

The clip size for the Thunderbird is at 40, RPM is at 600, damage is at 14, reload speed is at 1.5 seconds, and the crit multiplier is at 125%. The Accuracy is 86%, stability is at 91%, and the range is at 35 meters. The reason why I went through the stats really quickly is because the mods are where this monster shines.

The first mod is called Ultimate Storm Whip. Remember when I said this gun is powered by lightning? Check this out. Because of the Ultimate Storm Whip mod, shots bring down lightning on an enemy dealing 46 damage. That’s strong. The second mod is called Striga, whereby 30% of critical damage inflicted is returned to you as Health.

My opinion

Wow, wow, and wow. I love this gun. This gun could quite possibly be my favourite gun in the game. Despite its bleak visuals, the power that this gun has is something to be reckoned with. The fact that you get health back from just landing crits means that if you’re playing as the Technomancer, you’re basically never losing health because it’s always going to be refunded back to you.

The stroke of lightning that comes down on enemies doesn’t do area of effect damage, which I personally believe to be a good thing to maintain balance in the Thunderbird. Even so, that single lightning strike does huge amounts of damage and will more than likely finish your target off before your bullets do. The Thunderbird genuinely feels satisfying, and seeing the effects of your mods working with you makes it even more pleasing.

The mod description doesn’t specify how quickly the lightning comes down after each strike, but going by gameplay it feels to be around 2-3 seconds long. I’ve had lightning strike down on stronger enemies twice in one magazine, easily. I love everything that his gun has to offer, and for that fact, I’m easily giving the Thunderbird 10/10.

I really hope you enjoyed my review. Please let me know what you think of the Thunderbird in the comments. Happy legendary hunting, people!
