MGN and Freedom Games are part of the same family: the Freedom! Family.

Today we are looking at our upcoming games releasing soon. If you are looking for fantastic and new indie games, read on as we go through Freedom Games: Coming Soon!

0:33 – Dark Deity – June 2021

Command legendary heroes to reshape a land fractured by broken oaths, reckless war, and a secret search for arcane power. The ancient artifacts and powerful weapons you discover will empower your cast of 30 playable characters as they form bonds and battle their way into legend.

Dark Deity is a strategic RPG being developed by Sword and Axe LLC, and is a return to form for the genre. It follows in the footsteps of games like Wargroove and Fire Emblem, and promises to honor the the origins of the genre with a retro-feeling pixelated art-style that strategic RPGs were built on, but building on them with modern and enhanced game-play with features like the hero upgrade system, fifty-plus classes, and hundreds of weapon options.

If you’re a fan of the genre, or have fond memories of playing the early Fire Emblem games that were translated and brought to the west, but haven’t enjoyed the latest releases, then it looks like Dark Deity will scratch that itch that has been wanting scratching since Fire Emblem: Awakening.

It launches sometimes this year, and as soon as it does you can be rest assured that MGN will be dropping some serious hours to bring your news, guides, how-to videos and more.

1:24 – Slaughter League – 2021

Risk it all and become the world’s greatest. Survive an onslaught of twisted obstacles in the world’s most brutal game show, competing in a wide array of lethal online or local multiplayer modes!

What happens when you mix the Wipeout game-show, with the game-play and hilarious of something like Fall Guys? Whelp you get the wacky and wild Slaughter League, brought to the world by it’s developer Microwave Games.

You’re a game show contestant jumping through loops and hoops, avoiding spiked balls of death, competing against your friends or against people across the world in the game’s multi-player. There’s a multitude of game modes, and arenas, and plenty of content to keep the game fresh. Keep an eye out for Slaughter League, coming out later this year.

1:57 – To the Rescue! – 2021

“To The Rescue! is a charming dog shelter simulator. Take care of unique dogs and find the right homes for as many of them as you can. Upgrade your shelter, control disease outbreaks, learn each dog’s preferences, and make tough decisions, all while helping support real-world animal shelters!”

If you love animals then To the Rescue! is for you. Not only do you get to play an animal shelter simulation game, but some of the proceeds from your sale will go to the aid of real life animal shelters also!

The game itself is being made by Little Rock Games, and is coming soon to both PC and the Nintendo Switch. You’ll be in charge of taking care of a multitude of puppers that need some TLC, getting them fighting fit for adoption, and finding them the right home.

You’ll be thrown curveballs like infection diseases, or really snooty pups that require a lot of attention. But if you work hard, raise funds, and give out some love, then you’ll be on your way to being a professional adoption shelter in no time!

2:44 – Ruin Raiders – 2021

“Ruin Raiders is a turn-based tactical roguelike where you command customizable squads on a one-way journey into the ruins of an ancient civilization. Master turn-based combat, craft new technologies, and dive into ever-changing ruins to unveil the past!”

Take the best parts of a turn-based strategy game like X-Com, and the best parts of a roguelite game like Hades and mesh them together and you get Ruin Raiders. Fully customize your party to behave, appear and play exactly how you want them to.

RR is going to be a massive experience brought to the world by Freedom. You’re going to explore every changing archaic temples, sci-fi ruins, and more! You’ll build technology as you progress through the game, to augment your squad and their abilities. It’s going to be an exciting adventure, and we’re super keen to get our hands on it.

Boss battles. Procedurally generated ruins. Hundreds of items. Weapon development. Unlockable classes and abilities. Like I said, an epic experience coming soon!

3:08 – Coromon – 2021

“Coromon is a modern monster taming game with retro pixelart. Coromon brings an immersive storyline, strategic turn-based combat and challenging puzzles to a classic genre.”

As the name suggest Coromon is a Pokemon/Digimon inspired monster capture game. But what separates Coromon from the most recent releases of either of those games is additional content. Coromon will include mini-games, puzzles galore, genuinely strategic combat, side quests, and more!

All of this presented in the retro-pixel art style, out of design akin to something similar to Octopath Traveler. So, if you’re dying out for a quality monster capture game that you can play through steam, well then Coromon is here for you.

You can check out some of the gameplay, and what you can expect from the full release from the demo which is available on the game’s steam page right now! We’ve also played through the demo here at MGN, and there’s a video on our Youtube that will walk you through it, and we give our impressions of the game thus far also.

3:48 – Anuchard – 2021

“Battle monsters, solve puzzles, and reawaken the lost Guardians in a fantasy action RPG inspired by beloved classics. Rescue the souls of missing townspeople in a mysterious dungeon and restore the fallen civilization of Anuchard while wielding the mythical Audros Bell.”

The first game that comes to mind when I look at Anuchard is The Minish Cap. If you remember fondly playing classic Zelda games on your gameboy, then Anuchard is going to bring a flood of nostalgia with it.

Much like those classic games, in Anuchard the player will adventure through puzzles, fighting against beasties, and do just general ‘save the world’ stuff. You can check out the trailer on the game’s steam page right now, and can expect the game’s full release sometime later this year.

From what we have thus far it really does look like a charming game, and a really cool action RPG. Not only that, but the story that you can get from reading through the steam page entry seems quite interesting, and I’m keen to see what the developer does with it.

4:10 – One Lonely Outpost – Early 2022

“Start a farming colony and grow it into a vibrant community. Choose from traditional animals and natural produce or opt for robo-cows and gene-spliced crops. You can take a break from farming by mining, socializing with colonists, finding a love interest, exploring alien ruins, and so much more!”

There is very little more relaxing than sitting down at your computer after a long day, and then harvesting pixelated turnips. These is proven. But, what if you took the charm that could be found in that gameplay, and turn it into a interstellar colonization game? Well, that’s what the developers of One Lonely Outpost had in mind and the result is looking promising, and we at MGN and Freedom are excited for launch.

The game expands on other farming simulation games, by adding the element of space and colonizing a planet that is far and away from our familiar Earth. Excited to see what life will be like beyond the stars, but still want to pull up your turnips? Add One Lonely Outpost to your steam wishlist, and you’ll find out early next year.

4:56 – Cat Cafe Manager – Coming Soon (TBA)

“So you’re the cat cafe’s new owner? Nice meeting ye! Hope ye can fix this old place up. Plenty of stray cats around who deserve a proper home! Reckon the townsfolk could use a wee pick-me-up, as well. Lots of talk about a mysterious black cat stalking the streets…”

Keeping in line with the number of simulation games that Freedom is publishing in the not-too-distant future, we have Cat Cafe manager! The first thing that you will notice about Cat Cafe Manager when viewing the steam page, is just how amazing and adorable the art is. Truly, the people behind the pens have talent, and passion for their project.

Gameplay wise, well as you can imagine, you manage a cafe .. and adopt cats! If you’re not a dog person, and you don’t find the appeal in To The Rescue (the dog shelter sim), the perhaps the Cat Cafe will be right up your alley instead.

Essentially you get the best of both worlds. You build the cafe you want, manage customers, buy furniture, design and run the place. ANNNDD.. you manage the stray cats also. They’re as varied as the customers and some require even better customer service.

Summary

That’s going to wrap things up for our coverage of the games you can expect from Freedom! Games in the coming months. As we’re part of the Freedom Family, we’ll always been your best stop for news about the upcoming releases.
