Infinite Way – Game Review

Infinite Way is a deck-building roguelike in a post-apocalyptic world and released in Early Access.

At the moment, there is no story and no quests. All you do is travel on a world map ’til you get in a battle or find a camp.

In a camp, you can heal for water which you get after every battle. There is nothing else to do right now.

The battles are turn-based. You have 5 AP and cards cost 1-3 AP. Balance-wise, it’s not in a great spot right now. The “block” cards get your armour up. They are good in the beginning, but totally out of balance when you get deeper into your adventure as they just build up 6 armor and enemies then do 20+ damage per card.

Healing in a camp is also not balanced. It costs 100+ water to heal 10HP. You gain water very quickly, so that’s not the problem. But very early, you’ll get a card that costs 2 AP and heals you 30HP so there is no need to heal in a camp.

Right now, there are twenty cards, one character for you to choose from, and six different enemies.

The game is pretty bare-bones and there is just not enough content to warrant a €20.99/$20 USD price tag. This is too expensive. Even Slay the Spire and Monster train were released cheaper with a lot more content. You will see all the game has to offer in a bit over 30 minutes.

It looks promising and has potential, as the battles are fun when you get deeper into your adventure and enemies become stronger, but there is a LOOONG way to go. It’s not engaging as there are no rewards and many basic features similar games in the genre offer are missing.

I recommend waiting for content updates and putting it on your wishlist for now, as this has the potential to be a very fun game!
