Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade | 6 Details About The New DLC & Console Upgrade

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade DLC Update is coming to the Playstation 5 on June 10th this year. To get you up to date, we’ve bundled together all that we know, new information and some extra stuff, so you can know exactly what to expect from this DLC.

0:53 This new update is going to be adding extra content as well as new visual enhancements but there are some distinctions between them. The lighting and the textures are going to be the main focus in terms of the graphical improvements for this update. However, environmental effects like fog and rain have also had further improvements and the aim is to increase the sense of presence and immersion within the world.

1:18 There’s also going to be new modes that allow for things such as 4k resolution support and even a setting that allows you to run the game at 60fps. The PS5 version will have all the sort of technical and graphical improvements that you would think would come with decreased load times and, of course, the better visuals and lighting.

1:37 On top of that, there’s going to be some kind of adaptive trigger support for the PS5 dual sense controllers. Meaning that you’ll be able to feel certain aspects of the gameplay through the vibrations of the controller and the resistance of the motors within the triggers. Now, these PS5 improvements are going to be free if you owned the game on the PS4. It’s kind of like an upgrade for your next-gen console.

However, the actual new content is a form of DLC; it’s not the next part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it’s a sort of in-between step with some extra content and a sort of fleshing out the world a bit in preparation for Part Two, which is still in development.

2:15 Aside from the free upgrade, if you own the game on PS4 there is also the sort of Yuffie episode that you will have to pay for. This new DLC of course features Yuffie, who’s a returning character from the classic Final Fantasy 7 and is beloved by many people that played the original. In the original game, she was a Materia Hunter and you would encounter her in various different forests and she would join your party for those sections.

2:45 This new DLC is adding a new part to the story with a big focus on Yuffie and her guest who seems to be Sonon. Interestingly, we don’t normally see Yuffie in the story at this point in the game up until the party leaves Midgar, so this could be a totally new part of Yuffie’s story but we’ll just have to wait and see if there’ll be new locations for the players to explore.

The game will also include a photo mode which will allow players to pause and take screenshots, and we know from the trailer that you can also do this during battles so there really is some good potential to get some really nice screenshots.

3:19 There’s going to be a new difficulty mode added which allows players to use the classic turn-based controls while still playing on the normal mode. Because in the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS4, you would have to play on Easy in order to get those classic controls.

Interestingly enough, Integrate will actually only be available on PS5. Even though the original was on the PS4, this DLC is exclusive to the next-gen console. And it is already confirmed that you can transfer your data and your saves over to the PS5 if you have the PS4 version, but you won’t be able to buy this Integrated DLC if you own a PS4. You will have to upgrade to PS5 in order to experience this.

4:06At the end of the trailer, we also had a sneak peek of a character that you may recognize as Weiss The Immaculate. He’s from the PS2 game called Dirge of Cerberus and he’s the secondary antagonist in that game. He’s a very sadistic and arrogant bloke and wields those super cool lever-action sword revolvers.

Apparently, in Integrate, he’ll serve as a hidden boss in the battle simulator. In a recent interview with the director, Tetsuya Nomura, he explained that the reason that he’s now wearing a jacket instead of being shirtless as he was in the original, is because they wanted him to have a bit more refinement and richness. He’s standing as more of a boss-like character now.

So, essentially Integrate is going to be a PS5 upgrade for the original owners of the game. There’s also a paid-for DLC featuring Yuffie as she’s going to steal this ultimate Materia from Shinra. They’ve also added in new combat and gameplay additions alongside all of the visual enhancements as well as the photo mode added into the game.
