League of Maidens is a single-player Action RPG built using Unreal Engine 4. Impressively, this game is made by a three-man development team! The game was released on Steam on Feb 25th, 2021, and it allows you to create and customize your own battle maiden. You’ll fight giant bosses, upgrade your superpowers…and unlock highly revealing outfits.
In League of Maidens, there are three factions, two of which are available to play now with one “coming soon”. These are the Divinians, the Netherians, and the Coming Soonians. Just kidding about that last one. In addition to choosing from the two, soon-to-be-three factions, there are also 5 classes you can choose from. They are the Warrior, Tank, Healer, Assassin, and the Sorceress.
Character Customization
In terms of character customization, there are a lot of options to choose from. In all the games I’ve played, I have never seen a game that has more sliders, selectors, and customizations to choose from than this one. Oh, and it’s probably a good time to mention that this game has some very…interesting physics.
The uhhh…chests, for example, do not appear to follow Newtonian Laws. If you are easily offended, you may want to avoid this title. That said, if character customization is your thing, this game delivers it in spades.
User Interface
The UI interaction feels very polished. Every time you hover over something you get audio and visual feedback. Loot crates also make an appearance, even before you enter the game.
The voice acting is also quite strong, especially considering that this game only has 3 developers. Learning the game is also fairly easy as there is a decent set of tutorials to get you familiar with the controls.
The game also has an “adult filter”. If seeing sparsely clad, pixelated women with giant breasts is your thing, boy, oh boy, have you come to the right place! Better (or worse) yet, there is nudity if you remove the filter. There will undoubtedly be a lot of interesting screenshots and videos from this game.
There are also some pretty cool combos that you can execute. I’ve done a few eight-move combos and it made the game a lot of fun, although I don’t entirely know how I pulled off the combos. Why superheroes, ahem, battle maidens need guns when they have powers is a mystery to me. Although that’s just a personal thing.
Pros
- Insane character creation options.
- Impressive project for a three-man team.
- Story and voice acting are surprisingly good.
- F2P with good combat and cosmetics.
Cons
- Gunplay is boring and doesn’t fit the game. Manually reloading is lame.
- The game has bugs in its current state.
- If you are easily offended by exaggerated female body features, steer clear of this game.
- The UI is not very intuitive.
