Cyberpunk 2077 – Top 5 Things You Need To Know

In case you were not aware, we are mere weeks away from the much-anticipated launch of Cyberpunk 2077 developed by CD Projekt Red as the follow-up title to the iconic game of the year in 2015: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This game promises to offer some of the most interesting stories, areas, mechanics, and visuals that we are likely to see in this gaming generation or indeed the upcoming ninth gen of gaming. With that in mind, we thought it would be great to look at the top five things that caught our eye as we count down the days until Cyberpunk 2077’s release on November 19, 2020.

Here are the top five things you need to know about Cyberpunk 2077:

#1 – Night City

First of all, we look at the environment you’ll be visiting in this title. You’ll be exploring the wonderful world of Night City, an area with varying social classes, aesthetics, and inhabitants offering a rich and diverse social ecosystem. You’ll have the city center that is rife with monumentally large skyscrapers and business moguls.

Then you’ll have the complete contrast of areas like Santo Domingo, a particularly poor area of the map that has residents that are simply trying to make it from day to day without going hungry or becoming sick due to the ever-growing number of industrial factories and their toxic fumes. There are six segments of the map to explore in total here and each offers something new and interesting to the player. You’ll want to visit them all!

#2 – Cameos

You’ll probably be aware that Keanu Reeves of The Matrix and John Wick fame will be turning up in this title. He plays Johnny Silverhand, a dead character that will be familiar to fans of the Cyberpunk tabletop board game made by Mike Pondsmith. He will act as a guide for the player, residing in your head in the form of a microchip. However, he won’t be the only cameo appearing in this title.

The aforementioned tabletop game creator Mike Pondsmith will feature somewhere in this game. Plus, Canadian-born pop star Grimes will be appearing in this game as the lead performer for a band called Lizzy Wizzy and the meta dwarves. Plus, we may even see Hideo Kojima somewhere in this title, although that one is pure speculation at this point. I guess we will have to wait and see.

#3 – Weapon Classes

Weapons are obviously going to play a massive role in an action-heavy game like Cyberpunk. However, you may not be aware of how these weapons will handle. Well, allow us to enlighten you.

The guns in this game will come in three classes. You’ll have the power guns that are the classic rapid-fire weapons, perfect for filling enemies full of lead fast. Secondly, you have the tech guns which will act as rail guns, offering one powerful blast which will be capable of going straight through enemy cover and really packs a punch. Then lastly, we have the smart guns which are arguably the most interesting of the bunch. These weapons will use thermal, heat-seeking technology to go around cover and find enemies wherever they are, meaning they can run but they can’t hide.

#4 – Violence isn’t Always the Answer

While this game will have plenty of options to make sure you are more than equipped for a fight, it won’t always be necessary. The developers have worked hard to ensure that if the player wants to play more of a pacifist role in this game, it will be completely possible to get through this game without killing a single soul.

This is baffling considering the level of detail and the amount of dialogue and encounters in this game, so kudos to those at CD Projekt Red for this incredible feat.

#5 – Multiple Beginnings

We have become accustomed to multiple endings within games. However, rarely have we ever seen multiple beginnings within games. Cyberpunk will have over twelve in total, each offering a unique opening few hours to the game.

This will allow you to have a completely different background as a character, whether that sees you start as a street urchin from Westbrook, or a budding young entrepreneur in the city center. Whatever you choose, you can bet that it will be gripping, plus it encourages multiple playthroughs so we are obviously on board.
