Xiao Talent Guide: Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact has had a HUGE impact on gaming in the past year and continues to do so in 2021. From Venti, Diluc, Qiqi, and Mona, Genshin has a huge variety of characters that are as hard-hitting as they are adorable to look at, but no one hits harder than Xiao. Xiao’s entire character is built upon as a “selfish DPS” and that is what makes him so fun to play. Now that he is finally in the game, let’s talk about Xiao!

XIAOS TALENTS

NORMAL ATTACK – WHIRLWIND THRUST:

Xiao’s Normal Attack does SOLID damage, however, the real damage comes from his fifth and sixth attacks which do over 113% damage on the fifth and 151% damage on the sixth hit. However, his Charged Attack Damage is INSANE, 191% damage upon impact with only a measly 25 Stamina cost. His Plunges also do a huge amount of damage, 140% at base and 280%-349% damage depending on the height.

ULTIMATE – BANE OF ALL EVIL:

Xiao’s Ultimate Bane of All Evil is HIGHLY helpful in every case. This ultimate, combined with the plunge attacks, makes him the highest DPS character in the game. First off, it gives an 86% Bonus Damage on your Normal, Charged, and Plunge attacks. Second, it has a very short cooldown of 18 seconds. On the flip side, the energy cost is 70, which is quite high, but it’s well worth it. There’s also life drain while the Ultimate is activated, however it’s 2 HP per second, so it is not that big of a deal.

This Ultimate gives Xiao super jump abilities, which means landing High Plunges, or just Plunges in general, are much easier so you can cheese the damage. It also increases the area of effect, giving you more of a range. Run this character along with a healer, such as Bennett for example, and you’re golden.

ELEMENTAL SKILL – LEMNISCATIC WIND CYCLING:

Xiao’s Elemental Skill, or “E”, is a very simple yet extremely hard-hitting talent. It’s literally just a dash, but with way too much damage. Like, surprisingly high. Xiao charges at his opponents, dealing over 350% Damage at Talent Level 6, which means it will go up from there to reach a maximum of 360% damage. You have two charges for this E, and it has a 10-second cooldown between each charge. This is a highly useful attack as it can be used mid-air and deals a ton of damage.

PASSIVE TALENTS:

ULTIMATE PASSIVE – CONQUEROR OF EVIL:

Conqueror of Evil is a stacking passive. This honestly just means that all of the damage that your Xiao does while using Bane of All Evil (Xiao’s Ultimate), will be increased by 5%, and will gradually increase the more time the ultimate keeps on going. This is a very useful Passive Talent as it can guarantee you a small damage boost despite anything else.

ELEMENTAL SKILL ULTIMATE – HEAVEN FALL:

This passive talent functions exactly the same as Conqueror of Evil, but is made for your E. It is a dash attack, so having this on effectively means a plus 15% damage boost while using Lemniscatic Wind Cycling. This effect can stack up to three times, meaning it can give you either a 15% boost, a 30% boost, or a 45% boost while using Xiao’s Elemental Skill. This skill is super handy for a ton of quick damage and energy collecting.

TRANCENSION – GRAVITY DEFIER:

This passive is not the best, to be honest, and it is a team passive overall. Team passives are usually only useful for healing characters, however, Xiao does have one so let’s talk about it. Trancension-Gravity Defier is basically for the whole team. Its effects cause a 20% decrease in the whole party’s Stamina consumption when climbing. This is useful when you have other passive talents that have the same effect, making your squad natural climbers, but if you don’t then there’s honestly no point in using this.

SUMMARY

These are all of Xiao’s talents that are currently in-game. As we conclude this, Xiao is the topmost heaviest hitting selfish DPS in the game so far. And using Xiao as that selfish DPS is the key to winning in Genshin Impact. Xiao’s a super cool character with a great aesthetic and I cannot wait until they add more updates to him and make him much more fleshed out!
