Embr – Review

Have you ever wanted to be a firefighter and save people? To put out massive fires and be the hero of the day? Well, now you can in Embr! As an Embr responder, you fight fires, and every now and then you get to deliver some pizzas too. Really. From putting out conflagrations with your water gun to using your grappling hook to ascend buildings, this is a game that will keep you entertained with its gameplay and humor. If you’re looking for a fun game to play with friends and family, then this is it.

Yes, the Super Soaker. The ultimate in firefighting technology.

Gameplay

You play as an Embr responder who has to go into flaming buildings and save people. As you play through the levels, buildings burn faster and become more maze-like as well. The game keeps you on your toes and is quite addictive. As you race against the clock to save people there will be numerous obstacles in your way like electricity, gas, and even exploding barrels.

This is fine.

It’s not all about saving people, though. There are various minigames you can play too. There’s even a demolition minigame in which you get to start the fires. Yes! Burn! Burn it all down! Mwah-ha-hah!…ha…Ahem.

The fun thing about this game is that it has a nice quirkiness to it. Embr does a good job of making the game fun and thoughtful. Doors can explode if there’s a huge fire behind them. Light switches can break if you’re not careful. If there’s gas inside the house it can cause a big explosion. This is a good arcade-style game that will keep you busy.

Tools

In this game, you will receive various tools to help you out. You start off with a water gun, axe, ladder, and efindr. The tools provided in the game look cool and interesting. There are even grenades you can use to fight fires. These aren’t your normal grenades, by the way, these are special ones that are filled with water or even ones that can make your client pee to put out the fire. I mean, what self-respecting fire brigade doesn’t have pee-inducing grenades in their arsenal, right? These aren’t just for laughs though. How you use these tools matters and can make helping your clients and getting through the level easier.

Certain outfits can also give you bonuses to your movement speed as well as your carry speed of objects and people. Everything matters in this game, from tools to clothing and even how you decide to enter the building.

Sir? Sir! Stop resisting!

Overall

Embr is as fun as it is addictive. The game seems simple at the start, but the progressive difficulty of each level will quickly disabuse you of that notion. As you go through each level, it gets harder and harder to find the right access key with you eventually needing a client to unlock the door for the next room. The game does a good job of getting you to think on your feet. Embr is a game that has taken something as serious as high-rise building fires and made it quirky and fun. So, what do you say? Let’s go and put out some fires!!!
