Smaller is better
When comparing Remedy Edition’s Control – Ultimate Edition on the Playstation 5 vs. Xbox Series X – some interesting results came out. In particular, the PS 5, with it’s “Kraken” compression technology, has reduced the size of the game by 42% when compared to the Xbox Series X.
That said, it should be noted that this information was originally posted on Reddit, so take it with a grain or two of salt. I do have some images that show the discrepancy however, take a look at them and let me know what you think.
Image 1 – Playstation 5 file size of 25.79 GB’s.
Image 2 – Xbox Series X file size of 42.5 GB’s.
This is not meant to start a war between PS 5 and Xbox Series X owners – as both are great consoles and do a lot of thins well. This does, however, indicate that the smaller hard drives found in PS 5’s may not be as much of a factor as many had worried.
Granted, this is for only a single game, but if this type of discrepancy holds true across multiple titles, then this bodes well for the PS 5 group. It is also a lot less of a negative if / when you can use external storage as well.
Have you played one or both versions? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
