New Patch Notes & Analysis: Apex Legends – Season 8

All Buffs & Nerfs

Season 8’s new patch notes have a number of changes slated to bring more fun and balance to Apex Legends. Here is Water’s overview.

Quality of Life

This is a big one. There’s now a new damage counter on your HUD. Furthermore, pinging weapons or ammunition in your inventory displays your current count as well as “player wants more ammo” in the quick chat. This was a highly requested feature and they delivered.

Color Blind Update

This is another great update. Reviving and healing will now follow colorblind rules when the colorblind settings are enabled.

Lore Blurb on Canon Skins

apex season 8 changes

This is a cool update, though it is not essential to the game. Basically, any skin that represents a core component of a character’s backstory will have a small write-up that describes the significance of the skin.

Wraith

Wraith has had their hitbox nerfed. It doesn’t say exactly how much it has increased, but she has been nerfed.

Rampart

Shiela angle has been increased from 120 to 180 degrees while wall health in build phase was increased from 1hp to 45hp. (Note: sniper rounds still pierce through.)

Horizon

The gravity lift effective cooldown has increased by four seconds (21s to 25s). Also, the 15-second cooldown timer will now start when the Gravity Lift disappears. This is a significant nerf.

Octane

Arguably one of the biggest changes, Octane’s Launch Pad has been Remastered. The old super jump has been replaced with some more reliable options. Hitting the jump pad from a standing position will launch players along a high arc (speed and trajectory of the old super jump). Also, from a crouched position, players can now launch a low arc – flying lower but further horizontally. Exciting stuff!

Crypto

Small nerf. Crypto can no longer stick arc stars to friendly drones.

Loba

She got a small buff. Loot inside unopened care packs is now visible with “Eye of Quality” and accessible through the black market boutique.

Caustic

Received a slight nerf/fix. All Caustic’s gas now dissipates when her team is eliminated. Not a huge deal.

Mirage

A very small change. Mirage decoys create footstep sounds now. Makes sense.

Fully Kitted Rotation

  • They’ve now removed Wingman, Sentinel, Havoc, G7, and Alternator.
  • Added in R-301, 30-30 Repeater, Mozambique, Longbow DMR, and Spitfire.

Attachments and Hop Ups

For attachments, the Gold barrel has been removed from the loot pool.

For Hop Ups, the double-tap hop up is being removed from the loot pool and the Anvil rounds Hop Up is being added.

The Volt SMG is getting a slight nerf with bullet damage being decreased from 16 to 15. The Alternator, on the other hand, is getting the opposite change going from 15 to 16 damage.

The Spitfire is getting a few changes. Empty reload speed is being increased from 3.33 seconds to 3.8 seconds, reload speed is increased from 2.8 seconds to 3.2 seconds, and bullet damage is increased from 18 to 19. Essentially, the Spitfire will be doing more damage but the reload speed will be longer; something to think about when in intense situations.

EVA 8, fire rate has been increased from 2.0 to 2.1.

Lastly, there are no care package changes happening this season but look to be a bunch of new skins, based on the new trailer.
