We’re a mere few days away from the launch of Destiny 2’s next big expansion, Beyond Light, and information density has reached critical mass. Up until now, we’ve learned quite a bit about Europa and its frozen surface. We’ve also been clued into the Destiny Content Vault and the content that will be retiring.

There was also never any doubt that we would be getting new goodies to shoot aliens in the face with. So, what more could the recently released Destiny 2: Beyond Light Launch Trailer possibly tell us about the November 10th expansion?

In this trailer breakdown, we’ll give you a rundown of all the highlights from this sneak peek Bungie has given us before the big day.

Variks, Eramis and The Stranger

The trailer opens with Zavala once again calling upon Guardians across the Solar System to rally and protect humanity. He also makes a reference to something we’ve known little about until now: the Darkness.

The trailer cuts to Variks who called in the distress signal, warning us of the ascension of a new Fallen threat. Eramis, a former Wolves Baroness, is now taking up the leadership mantle as the Kell of Darkness. With the power of Stasis, we can see her empowering her assembled Fallen with new powers.

Throughout the trailer, we also get a look at an old friend from the original Destiny, the Stranger. This time around, she does more than just appear and disappear mysteriously. We can see her in the trailer using Stasis powers on enemy Fallen which suggests she might be how we’re going to be given our new frosty powers.

Stasis Subclass Powers

The Beyond Light Launch Trailer gave us a sneak peek at what our new Darkness-based powers are going to look like.

First, we get a quick shot of a Shadebinder Warlock activating his Stasis staff, seemingly freezing a bunch of enemies around her. Then, we get a few scenes of a Behemoth Titan smashing her Stasis gauntlet into what looks like a new type of Vex. There are also some brief closeups of a Revenant Hunter striking the ground with her Stasis Kamas. This is likely the second of the two-hit combo Hunters will gain access to with their new subclass.

The final showcase in the trailer shows Stasis-powered Guardians utilizing their abilities to freeze and shatter foes.

Sneak Peek of New Exotics

One of the most important highlights of the trailer was the showcasing of some of the new exotics we’ll be collecting in Beyond Light.

We see a Guardian wielding the new exotic sawblade, The Lament. The attack animation is a single-handed, wide-arched vertical slash which could be the weapon’s unique attack. Later in the trailer we also get a first-person perspective look at the first confirmed Stasis exotic, the grenade launcher Salvation’s Grip. There’s also a brief scene of a Hunter donning the new exotic helmet, Mask of Bakris.

The Destiny 2: Beyond Light Launch Trailer has more short glimpses and showcases of legendary weapons and armor that all appear to be modeled around the ice and snow theme. We also get a gander of some of the new enemy types and possible bosses we’ll be facing come November 10th. If you haven’t watched it yet, and you’re still itching for more information on the expansion, then give it a look.
