For those of you who are waiting for Returnal, we have some bad news. Are you sitting down? Good. Returnal has been delayed until April 31st, 2021. This gives the development team the extra time they need to make changes and add the polish to make it a great game.
The recent, and massive, backlash CD Projekt Red received for their botched Cyberpunk 2077 release is no doubt an influencing factor in the delay. We’ve seen a lot of games delayed recently, and we’re starting to feel that the gaming community’s unwillingness to put up with janky early releases is playing a factor.
Simply put, gamers are no longer willing to do “paid beta testing”, especially for larger AAA titles. Let’s hope the big studios take the cue.
